IBM today announced a partnership with Welocalize, LISA (Localization Industry Standards Association), Cisco and Linux Solution Group (LiSoG) to create an open-source version of IBM’s TranslationManager/2 (TM2) to be called OpenTM2. TM2 is a widely used enterprise-level translation workbench for professional translators.

GlobalSight is holding a User Meeting as a part of the Localization World Berlin pre-conference. Since the launch of the open-source Translation Management System (TMS) in January 2009, the community has grown considerably, and now consists of over 3209 users that are currently engaged in installation, testing or deployment phases. There have been over 5930 software downloads to-date! Through the forums on www.globalsight.com these users have posted over 1139 requests on process improvements and product enhancements in their quest for a next-generation, open-source TMS.

May 10, 2010 GlobalSight to Provide Automated Matching & Reuse of Previously Translated Material in 2.5 Billion Word TAUS Translation Memory Supercloud


GlobalSight and the TAUS Data Association (TDA) today announced a major development to enable automated reuse of previously translated material in the TDA supercloud of industry-shared language data. This automated translation matching with the TDA translation memory repository, that is already at 2.5 billion words and growing, will provide a level of scalability, ease of use and optimal reuse of previously translated material not seen before in the translation industry. This exciting new functionality will be released to TDA members later this year.
